Slow Turtle Fast began playing together in 1995 as a grunge/alternative band under the name Karma. Picking up ska/punk influences in the late 90's and playing a punk show under the name Rabid Lobster, Karma decided to focus on punk rock changing their band name to Phat Lip. After Phat Lip's rhythm guitarist, 5150, graduated highschool followed shortly by the bass guitarist, Chicky, the band took an indefinite break as the drummer, C Diddy, finished highschool.
After a year, 5150, Chicky, and C Diddy decided to re-formed as Slow Turtle Fast blending their roots of alternative/grunge and pop/punk with new found influences of funk, blues, and heavy metal.
